We Are Now Partners With GET THE WORD OUT FOUNDATION!
As a means to help promote indie films and filmmakers we at The SWIFF had the opportunity to join forces with the Non-profit organization GET THE WORD OUT FOUNDATION. This was something we were trying to do earlier this year but not until the post-ponement of the film festival was this made possible.
With this new partnership, GET THE WORD OUT FOUNDATION will be donating portions of ALL ticket sells to a charity or donation of there choice as well as to a "filmmaker fund" which will be awarded to the Audience Award Winner for most recognized film at the film festival, so, the event will even more rely on audience participation then ever before (more details on this filmmaker fund soon).
We at The SWIFF are very happy with the new direction in which the film festival is taking and we hope to have more events in store for you in the coming months and into the next year.

The SWIFF Post-Poned Until Feb./March 2009
Due to foreseen scheduling circumstances The SWIFF Festival event has been post-poned from this October 2008 to Feb./March 2009 in order to not be completing with a neighboring film festival on the same weekend. No one could have foreseen this and it appeared out of no where.
We hope that the filmmakers will be patient with the new change. We believe that the new date will be better for the event in the long run as we never wanted to be perceived as meerly a "horror and sci-fi film festival" like the dates in October implied. We are a film festival that accepts all different types of films.
We do have a tentative schedule for The SWIFF weekend come next Feb./March and will be posting it very soon as we want all the filmmakers accepted into the film festival to know that their hard work and dedication has not been for nothing.
We do hope that the new change in date will bring out more people to help support indie filmmakers and we look forward to seeing everyone in the New Year!

SUBMISSIONS LOOKING GOOD!
We are deep into viewing all of the current submissions for this year's festival of films and things are looking up. We encourage all filmmakers to continue sending us films as the "Late Deadline" has not arrived yet and I'm sure there's plenty of space to squeeze an exceptional film into our schedule.

MOVIE NIGHT EVENTS #3!
We'd like to thank everyone that came out to the Movie Night Events screening of ZOMBEAK! last Friday night at the Gwinnett Convention Center as well as all the cast & crew members that came out to support the film. There are so few opportunities for small local films to be seen by an audience and everyone at CenterSeat Ent. and The SWIFF are just glad we were able to give this unique film a shot.
ZOMBEAK!'s strange sense of comedic horror may not suit everyone's tastes but there is no denying that everyone in the audience had a great time at the event. We would also like to thank Handsome Sweater for coming out and performing prior to the screening. They were such troopers and we hope to see more of them in the future as well as at The SWIFF event in October.
Although we have not finalized what we will be screening at our final event prior to the film festival in Oct. we hope that it is just as interesting as all the other films we've screened thus far, so, stay toned for more info on these pages as it happens.

MOVIE NIGHT EVENT #2 A Success!
Last Friday's Movie Night Event of Southlan-Films' BAD LAND was a success not in attendance (which was down considerably from our last screening) but in terms of donations and getting the word out about not only these special events but the film festival The SWIFF as well. Producer/Director Ron McLellen and festival Festival Director Kevin L. Powers introduced the film before revealing it in front of its audience.
On Location at Gwinnett Center for Movie Night Events #2.
On hand at the screening was also Quilts By Tycoa which contributed a handcrafted BAD LAND quilt which was on display but will be on display at The SWIFF event in October as well.

NEW PHOTOS ADDED!
We've just added new production photos from THE SEEKERS: ISH and BAD LAND to our "Photo Gallery" page so make sure to take a peek while you're here.
Also, we plan on adding a page entitled "Local Georgia Films" in which Georgia filmmakers will be able to send us production stills to promote on this website regardless of whether or not The SWIFF ever screens or promotes that film. Just another way to help celebrate and promote the "local" color so send us your photos and your general info about your film and we'll do the rest.

The SWIFF has added Withoutabox (http://www.withoutabox.com/login/6868) to its website. Even though you can not yet submit films directly to us through this site we are now working with them to get the word out on the festival to all potential filmmakers and submitters. At this time all filmmakers and submitters will still have to navigate to this site in order to submit there films directly to us. We hope to have this changed soon and will keep you informed when we do.

The Southlan-Films production BAD LAND has officially been slated as the second film to be part of our Movie Event Cast & Crew Screening which will be the last week of April. A specific date is forthcoming so stay tuned for more information.

Last nights Movie Event 1 screening of the Southlan-Films production THE SEEKERS: INVESTIGATING SOUTHERN HAUNTS (http://www.myspace.com/the_seekers) went off well with audiences and cast & crew members. The room was almost filled to capacity with over seventy people in attendence. Prior to the screening lead investigator of the Georgia Ghost Society (GGS) Bob Hunnicutt and Drew Hester addressed the audience describing a little of what they were in for. Following the screening of the film there was an extensive Q&A session which lasted over an hour as the GGS and produced/director of the film Ron McLellen were asked a plethera of questions regarding the film itself and the many investigations described within. This was the first Movie Event to be sponsored by CenterSeat Entertainment and The SWIFF and it is far from being the last. Everyone was looking forward to the next screening within a months time.

The SWIFF now has a My Space page at http://www.myspace.com/somethingwickedfilmfest where you can find additional info about the festival as well as video clips and pictures from some of the films which we promote through our Cast & Crew Movie Events as well as possible festival films. We aim to promote all manner of indie films especially those produced in Georgia. We will continue to update both sites to maximize the expolsure of not only the website(s) but the films as well so start sending in those films!

Dates for the 2008 Something Wicked Festival of Films has been announced as the weekend of October 25-26 at the Gwinnett Center. There will be two screening rooms playing either films or holding seminars all day. There will be more info on this development as it arises.

CenterSeat Entertainment and The SWIFF will be sponsoring a Cast and Crew screening of the Southlan-Films production BAD LAND (http://www.myspace.com/bad_land) within the next several months. This is being done in part since many of the cast & crew were unable to attend the screening last year at the 2007 Atlanta Horror Film Festival in which the film took home the award for Best Local Horror Film. It is hoped that at this new screening more cast & crew members will have the opportunity to view the film in its final version. The film BAD LAND (http://www.myspace.com/bad_land) is currently available for viewing in nine parts on the website Revver (www.revver.com) and for a limited time on You Tube and we urge everyone to go view the film and comment on what you have seen. Production still from the Southlan-Films Production BAD LAND.
You can also view the Southlan-Film productions NIGHT OF THE HUNGRY DEAD (in three parts), THE SPIDER & THE FLY, and DER SOLDAT.

CenterSeat Entertainment & The SWIFF will be sponsoring a Cast & Crew screening of the new Southlan-Films production THE SEEKERS: INVESTIGATING SOUTHERN HAUNTS (Dir: Ron McLellen). This is a move in order for The SWIFF to be able to promote rising talents and filmmakers and allow them a venue in which to view their works. We at The SWIFF hope to continue to be able to do such events in the near future.
